That's a Beautiful Mojito!

"The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed." - Carl Jung

"I've got friends in low places. . ." - Garth Brooks

The PcolaMoms are like a warm hot-tub on an icy night. . .come on in, the water feels fine.

Last night's gathering at Zea's was our first (but certainly not the last) official "PcolaMoms Ladies Night Out!"

Despite the differences in the way we look, the way we dress, our backgrounds and current affiliations, the collective undercurrent of motherhood sets a tone of instant recognition. Not that the conversation is limited to babies, though.

Issues of importance such as neighborhood crime, the influence of society on our children and maintaining good relationships with spouses and extended family are covered. As are hot tubs, rose petals, three-inch heels and good cleveage!!!! (We have the pictures to prove it, but we cannot show them to you.)

We enjoyed healthy hummus and wet ribs, water, wine and mojitos. What's a mojito? Mine had pineapple, rum and a whispery hint of mint. (Sorry, I do not have a picture of one of these at all - the words will just have to do.) It goes well with grits.

Our PcolaMoms forum is not a replacement for friendships, but a launching pad for ideas, the beginning of the connection. We modern mothers are fortunate to live in a time when we can connect with other moms and affirm that we are not alone and we are not crazy.

Okay, strike that. We are all a little crazy, but it keeps the whole motherhood gig in perspective.

PcolaMoms is our Oasis. Nothing like having friends in low places. . .at kid-level.

Ain't that the truth. You can't be a good mom unless you take care of yourself. Last night was just what the doctor ordered. :-)
