"Just like me,
They long to be
Close to you. . ." - The Carpenters
I used to be very popular.
People would wake up calling my name, smile when I entered a room, beg me not to go . . .(as they held on to my leg!)
Ah, but those days are over.
Now, I wake them up and they tell me to go away.
When I walk into a room, they stop talking and wait for me to leave.
They only seek me out to obtain permission, money or a referee.
"Mom, DIDN'T you say I could use the computer?"
"NO! She told me it was MY turn, MOM!"
Somehow being in-demand just ain't what it used to be. Before long they'll be Pay-Per-View, too!
